Desert Duel CANCELLEDThe Tom Crawford's Leadership Children's Foundation regrets to inform you that there will no longer be a Desert Duel Charity Basketball Tournament. Thank you to all of the teams, coaches and sponsors who made the event the top tournament in the country. Our Mission...The mission of the Desert Duel Memorial Basketball Tournament is to raise funds for the Tom Crawford Leadership Children’s Foundation, a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization. The goal of the foundation is to improve the lives of children and preserve childhood. Staying true to this mission, the tournament also works to improve the lives of the players, coaches and colleges who are affiliated with the Desert Duel. We accomplish this by providing a dinner and a motivational speaker for the teams in order to plant the seeds of giving back and caring for their community. We then provide a platform for teams and grassroot coaches to showcase their best talent in hopes of facilitating scholarships for their higher education. The college coaches are able to see the best of the best in one location which is cost effective and efficient for their programs. Accomplishments...
To date, over two million dollars in scholarships have been given to players passing through our event. As important as this part of the
event is the true purpose of the Desert Duel Memorial is to honor Tom Crawford (1954-2006) and his legacy of giving by continuing the foundation that he started over 13 years ago. This is why all of the profits raised from the event go to multiple children’s charities such as ChildHelp, JDRF, The V Foundation (Pediatric Cancer Research), Coaches vs. Cancer, Tgen Foundation for Brain Cancer Research (In memory of Ashley Anderson) and the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network to name a few. Over the past 13 years we have been able to give over 2.5 million dollars to these worthy causes. With an amazing group of community volunteers, business sponsors and a dedicated board we have created a one-of-a-kind event that lets the star of tomorrow help the children of today!
